Just about every article you read about bettering your health or losing weight is going to tell you to ignore the drive through and cook all of your meals instead. This is actually very true. From time to time, though, the last thing you need is to have to make meals from scratch. Sometimes all you really want is to go to the drive through and get home as quickly as possible. Why shouldn’t you be able to do this every so often and not have a bunch of guilt about slipping up on your diet? You can do this because lots of the popular joints are now advertising “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here is how you can find healthy food choices at the drive through.

Your beverage needs to be water or juice or milk. Choosing a huge soda as your beverage adds hundreds of unhealthy calories to your meal. Usually an individual portion of soda is merely eight ounces big. That serving typically contains at the very least a hundred calories and more than a few tablespoons of sugar. A fast food soda is almost always at the very least twenty ounces. Thirty ounces, however, is much more common. This is the reason why just ordering a soft drink will add cupfulls of sugar and thousands of empty calories to your diet regime. Water, fruit juice and also milk, however, are better choices.

Logic claims that one of the best ways to stay healthy and balanced is to sidestep the drive through and never eat fast food. While this is usually recommended all you need to do is make a number of good choices and traveling to the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. Sometimes the thing you need is to let another person create your dinner. If you ultimately choose healthy things, the shame usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

The ingredients needed to prepare Easy Taco Soup:
  1. You need 3 lb ground chuck
  2. You need 3 packages taco seasoning
  3. Prepare 2 can black beans, drained
  4. Take 2 can kidney beans, drained
  5. Provide 2 can diced tomatoes
  6. Prepare 2 can whole kernel corn, undrained
  7. Take 46 oz tomato juice
  8. Provide 1 salt & pepper
Steps to make Easy Taco Soup:
  1. Brown ground chuck in large stock pot. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drain off any fat from meat and return meat to pot
  2. Pour black and kidney beans (4 cans total) into collander and drain. Rinse beans with cold water if needed. Sometimes canned beans like these will contain thick juice.
  3. Add drained and rinsed beans to cooked meat in stock pot.
  4. Add the 3 packets of taco seasoning to meat and beans.
  5. Pour diced tomatoes and whole kernel corn (4 cans total) into stock pot, including the liquid in these cans. DO NOT DRAIN.
  6. Pour 46 ounces of tomato juice into stock pot.
  7. Stir all ingredients together and bring to a simmer, letting it cook on medium low for 30 minutes or so. (I taste at this point and add extra seasoning if needed or even an extra packet of taco seasoning. This is totally according to your taste preferences.)
  8. NOTE: instead of putting all ingredients in a stock pot, you can add them to a large slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours. (Meat should still be browned on the stove before putting in slow cooker.)
  9. This makes a HUGE pot of taco soup, great for a large get together or pot luck supper. Serve with sour cream, shredded cheese, and tortilla chips.
