Just about any article you read about improving your health or slimming down is going to tell you to ignore the drive through and cook all of your meals instead. There’s some worth to this. Once in a while, though, you definitely do not want to make a whole meal for your family or even just for yourself. Sometimes almost all you want is to go to the drive through and get home as quickly as possible. There is simply no reason that you simply shouldn’t be able to do this once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You are able to do this because lots of the popular joints are now promoting “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here is how you can eat healthfully when you reach the drive through.
Aim at the side dishes. It wasn’t too long ago that French Fries were your sole side dish selection at a restaurant. Today the majority of the most popular fast food franchises have increased their choices. Now you may get several different salads. You can get chili. Baked potatoes can even be bought. You could possibly get fruit. There are a lot of selections that you can choose that do not force you to ingest foods that have been deep fried. When selecting your meal from the drive through, pick out a variety of side items instead of choosing a pre-made “meal deal”. You’ll keep calorie and fatty food count very low and escape commitment.
Logic says that one of the best ways to stay healthy is to bypass the drive through and never eat fast food. While, for the most part, this is a good plan, if you make sensible choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes the thing you need is to let someone else create your dinner. When you want healthy menu items, you do not have to feel bad about visiting the drive through.

Steps to make Feel Good Chicken Soup:
- Cut chicken into bite-sized cubes. Tip: I like to use an even mix of breast and thighs, seems to have better flavor that way
- Cut carrots into bite-size pieces. Tip: use pre-packaged baby carrots. They're already peeled.
- Cut celery into bite-size pieces. Optional: don't let any go to waste! I like to mince up the leaves and add them to the rest of my herbs. More flavor and more nutrients. Can't have enough of either

- Chop herbs down to a fine powder
- Cut green onions into ¼ inch pieces
- Combine all ingredients into a large stock pot and fill with water until the ingredients are completely submerged
- Bring this mixture to a boil and allow to boil for ten minutes. Warning: monitor closely, as boil-over will likely occur. I always make a mess on my stove lol
