Almost every “get healthy” and “weight loss” posting you read will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is certainly good advice. But sometimes the last thing you wish to do is prepare a whole meal for yourself and your family. Sometimes you just want to hit the drive through along the way home and call it a day. There isn’t any reason that you shouldn’t be allowed to do this and not be plagued by remorse about slipping on your diet. You can do this because many of the popular joints are now promoting “healthy” menu alternatives to keep their businesses up. Here is how you can eat healthy when you visit the drive through.
Pick out a drive through for a restaurant that’s known for catering to people with healthy palates. For example, Arby’s won’t provide hamburgers. You could have roast beef sandwiches, wraps and salads as an alternative. Wendy’s, although no stranger to the hamburger, additionally includes an abundance of alternative meal choices: large salads, large baked potatoes and other tasty items fill its menu. Not everything is McDonalds with its deep fried chicken parts and other terribly bad items.
Logic states that that one the simplest way to stay balanced is to bypass the drive through and never eat fast food. While, in most cases, this is a good strategy, if you make smart choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. At times what you need most is just to have another person do the cooking. There isn’t any reason to feel guilty about visiting the drive through when you make healthy decisions!
