Almost every “get healthy” and “weight loss” posting you read will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is literally very true. Occasionally, though, the last thing you want is to have to prepare a meal from scratch. Sometimes just about all you desperately want is to go to the drive through and get home as soon as possible. There isn’t any reason that you shouldn’t be allowed to do this and not be suffering from guilt about slipping on your diet. You can do this because lots of the popular joints are now advertising “healthy” menu alternatives to keep their businesses up. Here is how to eat healthfully when you visit the drive through.

Choose water, juice or milk as a drink. When you consume a huge soft drink you are introducing a whole bunch of empty calories to your day. Usually just one helping of soft drinks is only eight ounces big. Those eight ounces usually are at least 100 calories and about ten tablespoons of sugar. Most fast food carbonated drinks are a minimum of twenty ounces huge. Generally, however, they may be 30 ounces. This means that your drink alone will put a large number of ounces of sugar into your body as well as several thousand empty calories. Milk, fruit juices or plain water are much healthier choices.

Logic states that that one the simplest way to stay healthy and balanced is to avoid the drive through and never eat fast food. While, usually, this is a good idea, if you make intelligent choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes the thing you need most is just to have somebody else do the cooking. When you select wholesome menu items, you do not have to feel bad about visiting the drive through.
