Almost every single article about losing weight and getting healthy explains readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and that they need to carry out all of their own cooking. This is actually excellent advice. From time to time, though, you absolutely do not wish to make a full meal for your family or even just for yourself. Once in a while you just want to visit the drive through when you are on your way home and complete the day. Why shouldn’t you be capable of do this from time to time and not have a bunch of guilt about slipping up on your diet regime? You can do this because most of the popular joints are now advertising “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here is the way to eat healthfully when you visit the drive through.

Focus on the sides. It was not that long ago that all you could get at a fast food cafe was French Fries. Today almost all of the most popular fast food franchises have improved their offerings. Now lots of them offer you salads. You may also pick out Chili. Baked potatoes can also be bought. You can pick fruit. There are plenty of healthful options that do not include things like putting something deep fried into your body. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” try to create a meal from side dishes. When you are doing this you are able to keep your fat content and calorie counts low.

Common logic tells us that one certain way to get healthy and lose fat is to skip the drive through and to banish fast food restaurants from your thoughts. While, for the most part, this is a good strategy, if you make sensible choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes what you require most is just to have somebody else do the cooking. If you ultimately choose healthy items, the shame usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

  4. Use 1 each Salsa casera ( I use Herdez 16 oz )

  8. Use 2 each Avocados
  9. You need 10 as needed Corn tortillas
  10. Provide 1 bunch Cilantro
Instructions to make Chicken Tortilla Soup:
  1. Begin by cutting the peppers into very small pieces. I usually accomplish this by cutting the pepper in half then slicing longwise then cutting across into small pieces. Heat some oil in the pot and sauté the garlic and peppers at a medium heat for about 3 minutes or until the garlic is golden brown.
  2. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil. Rinse chicken and add to the pot along with the chicken bouillon. Add as desired. I personally use a good amount, about 1/2 a cup for 1.5 gallons of water.
  3. Simmer the pot contents on med low heat for approximately 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked.
  4. Once the chicken is cooked, remove from pot. Once the chicken is cool, shred the chicken then add back into the pot.
  5. Meanwhile, open the salsa container and pour into the blender. Blend well for approximately one minute. Use strainer to trap the large pieces of salsa.
  6. In a separate pot, heat up oil and begin deep frying the tortillas. About 30 seconds on each side on medium high heat or until golden brown. Place cooked tortillas on a paper towel to soak up excess oil.
  7. Cut up cooked tortillas into bite size pieces. Pour soup into a bowl and add tortillas. Garnish with cilantro and avocado, enjoy!
