Almost every single article about losing weight and getting healthy informs readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and that they need to do all of their own cooking. There’s some value to this. Now and then, though, you absolutely do not wish to make a whole meal for your family or even just for yourself. Once in a while you only want to check out the drive through while you’re on your way home and end the day. There is simply no reason that you shouldn’t be able to do this once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You can do this because many of the popular joints are now advertising “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here’s how you’ll be able to eat healthfully while you are at a fast food restaurant.
Focus on the sides. It wasn’t that long ago that all you could get at the fast food diner was French Fries. Now virtually all of the popular fast food places have widened their menus. There are plenty of salads around today. You can get chili. You can get a baked potato. You can pick fruit. There are a lot of possibilities that don’t include eating one thing deep fried. When you order your supper through a drive through window, choose side dishes instead of just grabbing something premade. This makes it possible for you to keep your calorie count low and reduce your fat intake.
Logic says that one of the best ways to stay healthy is to avoid the drive through and never eat fast food. While this is usually a good idea all you need to do is make a couple of good decisions and visiting the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. At times the thing you need most is just to have someone else do the cooking. There isn’t any reason to feel terrible about visiting the drive through when you make healthful decisions!
